Praised for his profound expressive depth and musical insight, Aaron Wajnberg is widely regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of his generation. He has established himself at the highest international level, performing at many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls and opera houses, including Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Kölner Philharmonie, BOZAR, La Monnaie, Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Veronica Hagman Hall, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Joseph Keilberth Saal, Bayerische Staatsoper and the Dutch National Opera, among many others.
A leading authority in the art of Lied, his collaborations bring him together with some of the most celebrated singers of our time, including Jeanine De Bique, Axelle Fanyo, Rolando Villazón, Roberto Alagna, Ian Bostridge, Christoph Prégardien, Christianne Stotijn, Tineke Van Ingelgem, Pumeza Matshikiza, Shannon Keegan, Samantha Hankey, Sophie Karthäuser, Chen Reiss, Allison Cook and Charlotte Wajnberg.
As a chamber musician, he collaborates with leading instrumentalists such as Michael Barenboim, Artiom Shishkov, Marc Sabbah, Julien Hervé and Roman Patočka, and with internationally renowned ensembles such as Quatuor Enesco and Quatuor Danel.
He is equally esteemed as a collaborative pianist for masterclasses and recital projects led by some of the most respected singers and pedagogues of our time, including Ann Murray, James Newby, Samuel Hasselhorn, Matthew Rose, Karen Vermeiren, Héloïse Mas, Edith Wiens, Maxim Mikhailov, Shadi Torbey, Sir Thomas Allen, Sergei Leiferkus, Gary Jankowski, Danylo Matviienko and Yuriy Hadzetsky. He served as an accompanist at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Voice 2018 and 2023).
Wajnberg graduated magna cum laude from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. His artistic formation was profoundly shaped by Leonid Margarius, Victor Makarov and Levente Kende. He later deepened his immersion in the art of Lied through advanced studies with Roger Vignoles in London, Helmut Deutsch in Vienna, and Maciej Pikulski in Paris.
In February 2023, he was invited by the legendary soprano Renée Fleming to participate in Carnegie Hall’s prestigious SongStudio program.
Highly regarded for the depth and refinement of his interpretations of contemporary music, Wajnberg has given world premieres of works by Luc Van Hove, Annelies Besses, Robert Groslot and Annelies Van Parys, and presented the Belgian premiere of songs by Iain Bell in collaboration with Rolando Villazón at BOZAR in Brussels.
Alongside his international performing career, Wajnberg is a highly influential pedagogue whose students regularly distinguish themselves as prizewinners at international competitions.
He is also regularly invited to serve on the jury of important international competitions, including the International Steinway Piano Competition, Premio Mater and the International W. A. Mozart Competition.
He regularly presents masterclasses and workshops in New York (The Juilliard School), Chicago, Paris and Frankfurt. He serves as Professor at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. Since 2019, he has been co-Artistic Director of Flanders LiedFest, shaping it into a leading platform for the art of song. In 2025, he was appointed Artistic Director of the Municipal Conservatory of Mechelen. From 2026 onwards, he will join Christianne Stotijn as co-Artistic Director of the Udo Reinemann International Masterclass.
